KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia -- Prime Minister Najib Razak met with visiting Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Tuesday (December 18th), telling reporters afterwards that bilateral ties remain close, despite recent glitches, local media reported.
"We are satisfied that our economic co-operation in the form of bilateral trade is on a rising trajectory," Datuk Seri Najib told the media after the talks.
Antara quoted Yudhoyono as saying the two countries still have broad areas for expanding economic co-operation amid favourable conditions for economic growth.
According to the Straits Times, a joint trade investment committee will be formed to pump up bilateral trade to $30 billion by 2015, compared to an estimated $20 billion this year.
Bilateral ties have grown strained recently over a series of incidents, some involving Indonesians working as maids in Malaysia.
